Starbucks

Key Features: In the lobby of a busy and fully occupied building, SCS Construction completely gutted a former travel agency and built a new Starbucks Coffee.  Starbucks has numerous owner-supplied/contractor-installed items, such as floor tile and wallcovering. Additionally, Starbucks has some direct contracts with signage and fixture supply and install, which we as general contractor had to coordinate with to make certain all key elements needed for their work were in place prior to their scheduled installations.

Challenges: Since there was flooring in the lobby, we made extensive efforts to avoid damaging any of the flooring while bring in materials and equipment, along with the challenge of no staging or delivery areas at street level in a busy downtown location.  Additionally, the occupants above the space dictated that any noisy work be done outside normal business hours and—because the lobby was busy most hours of the day— dust, noise and activity that would impact any building occupant or guest was kept to a minimum. All building rules and regulations had to be followed throughout the construction process.
